The Experience

"On the Safari I felt the thrill of being free. At the same time I was practicing positive thinking, exploring myself, my strengths and what makes me tick." - Zoe Jarvis

The Good Mood SafariŽ will immerse you in a natural and learning environment which enables you to enhance your wellbeing. It is based on the principles of positive psychology and will challenge you to stop and ask 'Is my life pleasant? Am I engaged? Do I value what I do? How healthy is my lifestyle?'

Instead of providing you with a set menu of the steps to happiness, the Safari encourages you to reflect on what you want from life and design your own path. It offers you a smorgasbord of tools from which you can choose those that will help you enhance the pleasure, engagement, meaning and physical health in your life.

The Good Mood SafariŽ was put together using evidence based psychological concepts including stress, pleasure, movement, the power of early morning light, goal setting, gratitude, mindfulness, optimism training, thought disputation, signature strengths, relaxation, valued directions and flow.

Set in the beautiful Illawarra region of the New South Wales South Coast, the Safari takes you on a journey of self-discovery. It uses the power of the natural environment and stunning local locations to heighten your learning experience. This innovative concept of psychological tourism is based on the notion that taking time out from your normal environment provides you with the opportunity to better absorb psychological concepts.

The luxurious Novotel Northbeach will be your home while on Safari and will offer you the opportunity to enjoy the views of Northbeach from your stunning ocean view room with balcony.

At the Nan Tien Temple you will get to slow down and experience a mindfulness meditation and thai chi lesson with one of the temple nuns.

You will take time to soak up the breathtaking beauty of the region from high up on the escarpment as you take a mindfulness walk along the Illawarra Fly Tree Top Walk.

You will also have the opportunity to dine at some local spots such as Austi Beach Cafe, Windjammers, Mountain Top Restaurant and the award winning Diggies cafe.

In a small group of up to six, your Safari Guide will take time to individually tailor the experience to meet your needs. Often touching base with you, they will coach you on your personal Safari journey to enable you to effectively use the tools suited most to you.

The support from your Guide will continue for the next 12 months, enabling you to transfer the skills you have learnt on Safari back into your every day life.
